About

Dr. Christopher Chittum

Advanced Spine & Brain Surgery Specialist

Brain Tumors | Spinal Disorders & Conditions | Minimally Invasive Spinal Fusion

Dr. Chittum is a board-certified neurosurgeon who received his training at the Medical University of South Carolina under the tutelage of Sunil Patel, MD, chairman of Neurosurgical Surgery. His neurosurgery training included seven full years of inclusive spinal treatments unlike “fellowship” trained spine surgeons who often only get one year of spine training.

He treats traumatic fractures, acute and degenerative disk problems and incorporates all non-surgical therapies as well to treat these conditions. He is trained in the use of artificial disk replacement for the cervical spine when indicated.

He operates at Spartanburg Regional Hospital, Spartanburg Surgery Center, and holds privileges at Pelham Hospital.

Dr. Chittum was compassionate, professional, and extremely thorough throughout my treatment. He explained everything clearly and gave me confidence every step of the way during my recovery.
